Our apple cider vinegar is made from the same great apples that go into our pies, cider, and turnovers. Not the supermarket varieties that shine up nice and taste like potatoes, but apples that bust with flavor. We press those apples into cider, then add “mother”, the biological culture that makes it all happen. Our culture is a gift from Jack, whose Iowa family has been making vinegar from this same mother for generations. Once the vinegar is made, we age it to produce a smooth, rich flavor. Our cider vinegar is unpasteurized to preserve its natural goodness.
HISTORY OF ACV
Apple cider vinegar and humans go back a long way. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, prescribed apple cider vinegar as a remedy for a variety of maladies. Our Grandma Bess drank a shot of it with water and honey every day. She lived to 99, had 44 grandchildren and over a hundred great grandkids. So there you go.
On the culinary side, cider vinegar enriches the flavor of many foods and adds zing where it’s missing. Try our apple cider vinegar in salads, marinades, and meat recipes. Or add some to water with a bit of honey and have it as a daily routine. Below are some tested and Wilson’s approved recipes that we would recommend:
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Sweet Refrigerator Pickles
